Julien Baker is an acquired taste - assuming of course you’ve acquired great taste in singer songwriters… beautiful, devastating, honest, insightful… I’ve not heard a single song of hers that hasn’t left me in absolute awe. crisbroadhurst
It is great to have two new songs from Cayetana. Mesa has all the musical energy, lyrical smarts, and Koch’s snide but empathetic delivery of the band’s first album. Trails is a little more of a departure. It starts reflective and atmospheric and then builds. The lyrics are more deeply emotional. Mesa is the better song but Trails shows the maturity of Cayetana’s song writing. I’m looking forward to their second full album out this spring. Gareth F-L
